Moxi

A gentle, non-ablative fractional laser that refreshes skin year-round — with minimal downtime.

About Moxi

Moxi is a gentle non-ablative fractional laser designed to improve sun damage, discoloration, tone, and texture with minimal downtime. Safe for all skin types and suitable year-round, it stimulates cellular renewal and collagen for a refreshed, more even complexion.

Best For

  • Sun damage
  • Melasma
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Dullness
  • Early fine lines
  • Prejuvenation

Treatment Levels

Moxi is fully customizable. Your dermatologist selects the level based on your concerns, skin type, and tolerance for downtime.

L1

Prevent & Refresh

Glow and maintenance. Numbing typically not needed. Ideal for first-time patients and ongoing upkeep.

L2

Revitalize & Maintain

Mild to moderate tone, texture, or melasma concerns. Topical anesthetic applied for 30 minutes before treatment.

L3

Transform & Renew

More visible pigmentation, sun damage, or actinic keratoses. Topical anesthetic applied for 30 minutes before treatment.

How It Works

  1. 01

    Consultation

Your dermatologist reviews your concerns, evaluates your skin, and recommends the appropriate treatment level and area plan.

  2. 02

    Treatment

Topical numbing is applied for L2 and L3 treatments. The Moxi handpiece glides over the treated area, delivering fractionated laser energy in roughly 15 to 30 minutes.

  3. 03

    Recovery & Results

Mild redness and a sandpaper-like texture (called MENDs) appear after the treatment and can persist for up to a week, depending on the treatment level, as the skin recovers. Final results are visible at 2 to 4 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Moxi treatments will I need?

Most patients see significant results from a single session, but for optimal results an initial series of 2 to 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended, followed by maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months. Your dermatologist will recommend a plan based on your goals.

Is Moxi safe for darker skin tones?

Yes. Moxi is non-ablative and uses a wavelength (1927nm) that is safe and effective for all skin types, including Fitzpatrick V and VI. Treatment level is adjusted to your skin to minimize the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Can I do Moxi year-round?

Yes. Because Moxi is gentle and non-ablative, it can be performed year-round including during summer months — provided you commit to consistent sun protection before and after treatment.

How is downtime?

Most patients experience mild redness and warmth for several hours after treatment. A faint sandpaper-like texture called MENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) appears over the next 3 to 7 days as old pigment exfoliates. You can wear makeup the day after treatment in most cases.

Is Moxi painful?

L1 treatments are typically comfortable without numbing. L2 and L3 treatments use a topical anesthetic applied for 30 minutes beforehand, making the experience well-tolerated. Most patients describe a warm, prickling sensation.

What's the difference between Moxi and Halo?

Both are Sciton fractional lasers. Moxi is non-ablative and gentler, with shorter recovery and ideal for tone, texture, and prejuvenation. Halo is a hybrid (ablative + non-ablative) laser with deeper resurfacing and more downtime, used for more advanced concerns. Your dermatologist can recommend which is right for you.

What does Moxi treat?

Moxi is FDA-cleared to treat uneven pigmentation, melasma, sun damage, rough texture, early fine lines, dullness, and actinic keratoses (precancerous spots).
